Pierre Bernier

Dr. Pierre Bernier is a senior scientist with the Canadian Forest Service, Natural Resources Canada.  A forester by training from the Université Laval (Canada), he obtained his Ph.D. in forest hydrology from the University of Georgia (USA) in 1982.  His work is now in the general field of forest ecophysiology in relation with climate change. His current research interests are on: forest-climate interactions, including forest growth, disturbance regimes, carbon stock dynamics and albedo; forest sector adaption to climate change, including the forest carbon dynamics linked to the expanding role of forest bioenergy; forest assessment and inventory related to Canada-wide analyses of forest dynamics and change.
